In the event of an emergency, please call 406-388-8323 and follow the instructions below.

Have the following information ready:

  • Owner's name and phone number
  • Name, age, breed, sex of the horse
  • Description of the problem
  • Insurance company name and phone number (if applicable)
  • Paper and pencil to write down instructions

Clients

Emergency: Our after-hours receptionists are carefully instructed to respond to your needs during an emergency. In a critical situation, you do not need to go into great detail; please just tell the operator that you have an emergency. Our on-call doctor will always call you back within five minutes and you can then explain the situation.

Time Sensitive: If you aren't sure whether the situation is a true emergency, that's Okay, too. Please tell the receptionist that you need a call back soon because the concern is time-sensitive. Our doctor will call you back within 15 minutes.

Message Only: Even if you simply want to leave a message for the next day, we're happy to let you speak with a real person, day or night. Please let the receptionist know it is Okay to hold the message until the next business day.

Referring Veterinarians

Calling the main number (406-388-8323) is most efficient. Our doctors often take calls on their mobile phones, but the main number is best during an emergency/referral situation. Our on-call doctors will call back right away to discuss the case. A specialist is always available for more complicated cases, or for phone consultations.
